Bob Goff, a speaker at this year’s Global Leadership Summit spoke about the following Scripture.
1 John 3:16-18
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.
I would say that this scripture pretty much sums up the way we’re supposed to live our lives as Christians. And can you just imagine what this world would look like if we lived this kind of life? We would grow. The Church would grow. All of our church ministries and church outreaches would be clear and defined.
I see several initial steps outlined in this scripture that show us how we can begin living this life:
- Truly understand the magnitude of Christ’s love and sacrifice for us
- Understand that we are commanded to be like Christ
- Pray that we see all others like Christ sees others
- Love others and provide for others
- Don’t just say it. DO IT!
