Mommy and Daddy will remember

Today is our baby boy’s second birthday.

Birthdays are exciting days in our house. On their birthdays, my wife makes custom cakes for each of our three boys. They get their birthday breakfasts in bed (usually homemade pancakes), some presents first thing in the morning, the dinners of their choice, etc.

What makes birthdays even more exciting is when the church remembers.

We’re blessed to attend a church that does so well at what we call “hands and feet marketing.”

To illustrate:

First, our son received a handwritten card in the mail from the preschool minister.

Second, when my wife was taking our son to Sunday School class yesterday, the minister and some of the preschool workers saw them in the hallway and started singing “Happy Birthday!”

I wasn’t there to see it, but when my wife told me about it, I was so pleased.

There’s a chance that our son will not remember much, if anything, about his second birthday. But Mommy and Daddy will remember the love and support we received from our church family.

How does your church reach out to members on their birthdays?

  1. I always receive a letter from my pastor, with his handwritten greeting. First ever for me, and I will miss it when I move.

  2. Thank you for the note, Janet. Handwritten letters are often saved as keepsakes. They have the perception of being more thoughtful than an email or Facebook post.

  3. It makes me happy to know youhave found another wonderful church family they have made you fell so welcomed and us to when we attended I like to hear they think my grandchildren are special like I do
